If you are not seeing correct contact information in the GAL for someone that has a valid email address (i.e.someone who just received a CUMC email account, a new student, someone who recently changed their directory information) please use the steps below to synchronize your computer's locally cached version of the GAL.
If the update mechanism appears to be broken for you, it could be because of a corruption in your OAB or in your mail profile.
In that case, you can completely reset it by deleting the files making up the OAB or by recreating your mail profile.
The Global Address Book (GAL) is a directory of available contact information for CUMC, NYPH and Columbia University faculty, staff and students.
It can be accessed when using a CUMC email (@cumc.columbia.edu) account with Outlook or when logged in to the Outlook Web App.
First I'd ask is your Exchange 2007 server actualy your OAB generation server? What's the distribution method of your OAB - web based or public folders?
If you're using public folders, is the DB mounted and is replication healthy?Microsoft is conducting an online survey to understand your opinion of the Technet Web site.If you choose to participate, the online survey will be presented to you when you leave the Technet Web site. Diagnostic logging is very helpful with OAB generation issues.Crank the logging level up and monitor the Event Log - it often tells you what part is failing and you can investigate further from there. In general, Outlook will automatically update the Offline Address Book (OAB) for Exchange accounts once every 24 hours.
