Miscalculation of pregnancy dating
He use physic reading Hi, I just wanted to share my story, I was told that I had a blighted ovum because the doctor couldn't see a heartbeat or even a baby at 61/2 weeks despite super high Hc G levels. But at the same time I think it is important to know that sometimes there is hope and all we need to do is wait.
The first US we couldn't find the heartbeat either. There is no heartbeat on ultrasound and no bleeding. We watched the first baby deteriorate on ultrasound for 3 weeks before I had a D&C.I got pregnant again 2 months later and the same thing happened only this time a few weeks later in the pregnancy; we knew to expect the same. I went for both a transvaginal US and the "belly" ultrasound. The measurements of the baby put it at 6 weeks old. Any insight would be greatly appreciated and would help my aching heart. I know a lot of stories don't end like mine, I had a misscarriage this past spring and I remember how painful it was and still is so I don't mean to be insensitive to anyone who is misscarrying. According to my conception date I am 8 weeks 4 days pregnant and my gestational age is 6 weeks 4 days. By that time I will be 9 weeks, 4 days pregnant and 7 weeks 4 days gestational! If ultrasound didn't show baby's heartbeat get answer from this page. I found a really helpful website that gave me some hope... I thought I would post it in case it was encouraging to anyone.
said either we miscalculated the conception date (which I highly doubt), or the baby stopped growing and I have miscarried. I am going back in 6 days to try to SEE the heatbeat again. but I decided to wait and went in a week later to be sure, and they found the baby and heartbeat at 7 1/2 weeks. I'm now 8 weeks and really excited but I had a scary week thinking I was misscarrying.
The Doctor wanted me to get a D/C that day to avoid complications or infection.
We went back exactly one week later to see if there was any growth, and there was and my doctor too said perhaps the conception date was off or I thought maybe I was unsure of my last period date(I knew I wasn't, I was 100% sure).
My doctors only other reason for this perhaps my ovulation is off, like a whole week and that makes a big difference in the first few weeks of a pregnancy.
Long story short, stay positive you'll probably be pleasantly suprised! Unfortunately this has happened to me 2 times this year already.
The baby dies in late in trimester 1 and the body does not recognize it.
